Meet 2 friends, Mina and Lucy, and the 5 heroes who try to save them from the dreaded Count Dracula in Dracula: A BabyLit® Counting Primer. Make sure you're wearing a necklace of 10 garlic flowers as you count wolves, ships, tombstones, and boxes full of soil in this witty retelling of Little Master Stoker's classic gothic tale.
My toddler now insists on counting the garlic flowers before bed, and she's actually getting the numbers down. The Mina and Lucy pages are her favorite, which is funny since she has no idea who Dracula even is yet.
The counting format is what sold me — my daughter points at the ten garlic flowers on every page and counts them out loud. Mina and Lucy being the two friends makes it feel like a real story, not just numbers. It's become our go-to before naps.
My two-year-old asks for this one by name now, mostly because he loves counting the 10 garlic flowers on every page. The Mina and Lucy illustrations are just creepy enough to be fun without scaring him.
