Pokko and the Drum
Category: Books
The biggest mistake Pokko's parents ever made was giving her a drum. In this award-winning picture book, a small frog takes her drum deep into the forest and starts to play, unexpectedly gathering a raccoon, a rabbit, a wolf, and eventually the whole forest into her band. Named a Today Show Best Book of the Year and an NPR Favorite Book, Pokko and the Drum quickly became one of the most talked-about kids books of its year.
Bold illustrations and a story about courage, self-expression, and making your own kind of music make this one of the best books for kids who love a little mischief with their bedtime story. It's an ideal pick for parents building a collection of story books for kids that celebrate individuality and creative confidence.
