My 6-month-old figured out the gumline feeder in about two days, which surprised me since she usually just gnaws on everything. The little holes let mashed banana through without any chunks slipping out, so I'm not hovering the whole time. Cleaning it takes maybe a minute under warm water.
The silicone pouch is soft enough that my 6-month-old can gum the food out without gagging, which was my biggest worry starting solids. Filling it with mashed avocado and handing it over has made weaning way less stressful than spoon-feeding.
